Who’s right? What are they called in your language? 🤔 Explanation below👇 🇰🇷🇬🇧 We’re just learning about clothing names in class and funnily most Korean clothing terms are derived from English words (eg. 블라우스 bel-la-u-se for blouse). However, some Korean terms refer to different items than the original English words 🙃 or at least have a different connotation… 재킷 jae-kit (from jacket) refer to formal blazer jackets. Casual zip-up jackets are called 점퍼 jeom-peo (from jumper) But in English jumpers are sweaters. But 스웨터 seu-we-teo (from sweater) in Korean refers only to knitted, winter sweaters. Other sweaters are called 맨투맨 men-tu-men, supposedly from “man-to-man”, though I couldn’t find where the origin is from 🙃 Dresses are called 원피스 won-pi-seu (from one-piece) Thankfully, coat, T-shirt, shirts still sound and mean the same as English. (코트 ko-teu, 티셔츠 ti-syo-cheu, 셔츠 syo-cheu)
